BURN YOUR BOATS

I know, I promised to be back on here often.  Well, im here to make another promise.

Bare with me, life has taken a turn.  9 years of finance, corporate jobs, cubicles, office work, and interest rates, IS OVER.

I have made the transition to full time trainer.  Now that doesn’t mean I’ll be on here just pushing my services, nothing will change.  This will still be the same ol rants and raves and free tips for those that care to read it.

Let me just start by saying this is an insanely scary moment in my life.  I didn’t think anything would take me from my cube job.  I can’t sit here and bad mouth any of it, I had my run while it lasted.  I had fun, I have no regrets at all.  I had to make a decision; sit n’ wait for things to turn around, all the while my passion became less and less everyday for it…or go full steam ahead with my training business.  I always had this in the back of my mind, but never had the balls to move forward.  Maybe the down-turn in the economy was a blessing in disguise?  Maybe my true calling came to fruition?  Either way, the decision has been made and I have already told my bosses.  These guys were like family to me, it was hard to say good bye.  I will always be around, and actually signed one of them up for a 12 week program!

At this point, I have my license, insurance, business license, and a bunch of gear…and heart & drive as big as California!  I have one real customer and a ton of unanswered questions.  Im scared, im excited, Im ready.

I sit in Starbucks and type up my first invoice, and know rent is only a couple weeks away again.  People look at me like im insane, leave a fancy corporate job after 9 years to do what???? Huh??  I shrug it off and move on with my day.  I am one that has always said you will never really be successful unless your passionate about what you do.  You can earn a living, and a damn good living, but won’t ever be successful without passion.

So I run around in the 92degree heat trying to get flyers on to doors and cars without being bit by a dog or chased off by a screaming property manager.  Why?  Because I don’t have money to market, but I have time.  No money? Spend time.  Wise words given by my boy Vic @ GymJunkies.com.

Once you are really commited to something, you give it your all.  You get off that damn boat, onto the island and get ready to fight for your life.  SET YOUR BOATS ON FIRE!!!
