TO DO: Weekend Grocery List

It’s Friday. If you’re like the majority, your work week is ending and you have a couple of days off now.
Most people say things like, ‘I’ll start that diet next week.’ or ‘I’ll get that done over the weekend’. Well, here ya go!
Let’s start with a grocery list. Either get on it this weekend, or spend another week hitting Del Taco or the ‘healthier’ options that Subway offers…usually found in the form of an enormous amount of useless flour carbs, or some hydrogenated oil blend they splatter on your 6 inch to make it appealing to your tongue. The only oils you should be putting on your 6 inch should be done on your own time, and not in public. Anyhow…here is what you will buy.
1. (3) Three different types of fruit. You’re not allowed to buy; strawberries, bananas, or mangoes. Let’s not get into the details, but just make it a challenge and buy something else.
2. (5) different types of vegetables. The bagged ’salads’ count as 1. Obviously, don’t buy the salads containing the salad dressing and croutons. Find a mix besides iceberg. Besides the bagged salad, buy some other ‘colors’ as well. Some suggestions can be; broccoli, cauliflower, green peppers, red peppers, spinach, squash, onions, asparagus, and any other that you may prefer. No canned veggies. They must be fresh vegetables, and I STRONGLY suggest organic…but don’t let that stop you from actually eating some.
2B. Also, buy 2 or 3 bags of frozen ’stiry fry’ mix. Try to get one with no ’soybean oil’ or ‘hydrogenated oils’ on the ingredients list. Read the ingredients. The mixes make a fast meal possible and can save you from hitting the drive thru after a rough day. You can always mix it with some left over chicken, or any other meat- or with some sliced almonds and cheese if you’re non meat eater.
3. Eggs. Buy a dozen of organic, free range eggs. YES, organic does matter. Grass fed, free range, chickens would be best….but like the veggies, let’s just get the ball rolling. The price difference in eggs is pretty bad, so be prepared…but don’t bargain shop for eggs. I can tell some pretty disgusting stories… I’ve found the best ones at the local farmers market, and they’re usually about $1 cheaper than the grocery store.
4. Coconut Oil- Find it! Try it! Stop making excuses and give it a shot. Organic here again. If you just can’t possibly do it, buy BUTTER. Best option with butter is the same as the eggs, organic and grass fed cows. At the very least, get organic on the butter.
5. Stevia- 100% Pure Stevia. Try it! Avoid the ‘crystalized’ packets version of it. Try the pure stevia out. Try it in your coffee and teas and research it for anything else you once used a ton of sugar, or worse..the chemical experiments called ’sweeteners’. (Equal, Sweet&Low, Splenda addicts)
6. Tumeric- Find this in the spice section of the store. Try it out on a few different foods, and experiment with the taste. A simple search with Google will lead you to some good things about it.
7. Cocoa Powder- 100% pure cocoa powder. You may have to hunt for this stuff at a health food store. Try it in your coffee as a sweetener. Or research a few recipes. Start using this stuff instead of the pre-made dough…or even worse, pre-made junk with hydrogenated oils, which are just trans fats in disguise. Trans fats kill, that is NOT a conspiracy and the FDA has already said, ‘No amount of trans fat should be considered safe.’ You can also try this stuff out in plain yogurt. Mix it up and now it’s ‘cocoa yogurt’ without any added sugars.
8. Cocoa Bars- If you’re not into baking or trying new recipes out, but still need a ‘treat’, try a dark chocolate cocoa bar. But, don’t just grab anything that says dark chocolate on it…and definitely do not get any MILK chocolate. It must be at least 75% cocoa, and look for the lowest amount of sugar on the label. I found an inexpensive one that contained 78% cocoa and just 5g of sugar.
9. Meat- Eat it. But, let’s make it a challenge and limit your options. Once again, let’s not get into religion and political views…meat is meant to be eaten. Maybe not the outrageous amount of red meat we all eat, but it was placed here to consume. Red meat, such as beef, should be eaten sparingly…maybe once a week, tops. Fish is also an awesome source of energy, until we fucked that up too.. Ideally, you will find a source of ‘organic, grass fed meat’. But, if you’re like most city dwelling folks, obtaining chicken, beef, and other tasty critters from a source like that is not very feasible. So, this trip for meat you will-
a) Chicken- buy a whole chicken. Most grocery stores will have these. Chickens cut into sections are usually not as fresh and endure much more processing.
b) Try something different- duck? goose? duck, duck, goose? Find ostrich, or buffalo burgers. Do not buy the soy crap, it’s not real and most comprised of chemicals and fake mush. Maybe, chicken liver? Remember when your folks or grandparents used to eat this stuff on a regular basis? It’s good for you. Period.
c) Fish- try a smaller fish out. Stay away from tuna, swordfish, or sharks. Find small fish. This time, READ LABELS. You need to find a wild caught species, and if you care anything about mercury poisoning…which in turn can accelerate the spread of cancer cells, do some research on reputable fish companies. Starkist Tuna isn’t the only one out there…
10. Ginger- This stuff is awesome. Not only can it add a great taste to teas, and other items…it is also known to be good for inflammation issues (which almost EVERYONE has) and can be a great way to get your bowels moving in the morning. A cup a green tea with some ginger is an awesome way to start the day. Or, you can just mix it with some lemon and hot water for a quick constipation reliever. Digestion issues are a HUGE problem in the states…mostly because people think humans should eat non nutritious, processed, flour products, chomp and drink on animals that were raised on drugs, and substitute nutrients for ‘taste’ thru use of artificial flavors and other chemical contraptions that are now found in everyday products. We were meant to shit! Sitting on the toilet for 53 minutes and producing 1 milk dud sized ball is not a good thing.
There you have it, 10 things to try out on your next shopping visit….hopefully over this weekend.
I don’t give a shit what your latest fitness guru wants to tell you about their brazilian butt lift, or some ab square circle, shaker weight, round shoe- that activates muscles in your sphincter that in turn send neurotransmitter messages to your stomach…and creat abdominal support. Which, of course creates ‘abs’ that show.
WTF?! The worst part about that; Some people actually think that is a product.
I don’t give a shit what they say, if your diet is not ‘up to par’, you WILL NOT see any results. You can wash your Ferrari 19 times a day, but if you don’t keep it ‘tuned up’ or you piss in it instead of filling it with high quality fuel…it will may look cool- but eventually it will become a worthless pile of shit, that just doesn’t work.
Our current ‘western diet’ as it has been dubbed, will sustain life…you will grow, and probably live and survive like a normal human. Sadly enough, normal is medication, a lethargic feeling, and aches and pains as you age. It may keep you progressing as everyone else…but, it won’t keep you healthy, happy, and full of energy. And it sure in the hell won’t give you what you need to be a BEAST! Or for the ladies, it won’t give you the right fuel for a sexy body, ageless looks, or any other of the qualities the male species is interested in. (even if they won’t openly admit it) Eventually this ‘western diet’ will lead to saggy boobs, cheesy legs, thyroid issues, muffin tops, horrible PMS issues, and a whole list of problems as you age and eventually hit the time of your life which you call menopause.
Do not come home with the same ol’ 90% lean ground beef, or 4 pack of turkey burger crap. Skinless, boneless, chicken breast? That’s so 90s… Muscle is dark, muscle contains more bang for your buck. Don’t be afraid of dark chicken, or even a little skin. Vegetables are not meant to be kept in a can, nor is fruit. If you do eat grains, make them whole…not instant. And please don’t tell me you’re still eating ‘egg substitutes’. C’mon, folks!
Eat Strong. Be Strong.
-Mike.

All this information is so helpful. I grow my own vegetables, prepare them, and lose weight for my efforts. I am also well liked by my neighbors because I share.
Thats awesome. Keep up the great work.
