Soy to the world…

Soy.
It’s been debated for quite some time now. The majority of people seem to think it is perfectly OK for you, and part of that majority will even say it is the healthiest protein source you can get. After reading a few more things, and understanding a little more…
I think it is best to put it the way Dr. Mark Hyman said it, “The dangers of soy are overstated. The benefits may be too.”
See, it is OK to not know everything. It is especially OK when you’re not expected to know much at all! The hard part is doing your own research and reading a few different things, including books. You can’t just believe some commercial endorsed by a handsome doctor and a food manufacturer. Anyhow, before we get too far into the uninformed public- let’s get on with the show! Oh Soy to the world…
The two main questions are;
1. Is soy safe?
2. Should I eat soy?
Personally, I think the answer to both is maybe. But even if soy may have some solid benefits associated with it- the following seems to be the consensus among many doctors that have commented on it:
Processed soy (mostly packaged fake food) is bad. GMO soy should be avoided. Soy oil is bad.
I still stand on my ground and advise you to avoid it whenever possible. Mainly, because of the soy domination by Monsanto and their GMO soybean. I have some concerns the ‘explosion’ of soy in the US over the last few decades. I am concerned about a busy society that is always looking for healthy alternatives. I suspect it may have been exploited as cheap way to process foods, in the form of oils. With endless artificial flavorings and other crazy things, it was easy to process into imitations of all sorts of products- from meat to milk. There is plenty of evidence that support some health benefits. There is also some alarming things about it too. And for some other reasons, I think soy is best left for the females. I am not convinced that we discovered this miracle plant. It’s been around for 1000s of years. It’s usually eaten fermented, un processed, and not made with Round Up ready soybeans made by Monsanto.
Soy, the way it should be:
“The Okinawans are the world’s longest-lived people, probably in part because of their diet. For more than five millennia, they’ve eaten whole, organic and fermented soy foods like miso, tempeh, tofu, soy milk, and edamame (young soybeans in the pod). One to two servings a day of any of these foods are fine.” -Dr. Mark Hyman
Then you have the scientist and huge food corporations and the edible oil industry- they also love the stuff. They figured out how to use soy based products in a shitload of products!! I like to call this part of the story- Soy, the marketing ploy.
Soy, the processed version. AVOID!
“That includes soy protein isolate and concentrates, genetically engineered soy foods (typically made from Monsanto’s Roundup soybeans), soy supplements, and soy junk foods like soy cheese, soy ice cream, soy oil, and soy burgers. They don’t have the thousands of years of traditional use that whole soy foods do, are processed, and contain unhealthy fats and other compounds. I have real concerns about these types of soy.” -Dr. Mark Hyman

I think some edamame is fine, and can be pretty tasty. It can be part of a healthy diet, as a source of protein…but it should definitely not be you only source. I still think there are plenty of unanswered questions and am quick to point out; we process it like crazy and use it in a ton of processed products. These other cultures that have used it for centuries DO NOT process it like we do. According to ag-reports, soy crops in the US are 80% GMO.
Summary:
* Real soy is fine, but should be used as a source of protein- but not the only source.
* GMO soy should be avoided.
* Processed soy (which is usually GMO) should also be avoided.
That concludes today’s lesson.

PS: For the soy sauce lovin’ beez in peez, I suggest BRAGG Liquid Aminos. This stuff tastes pretty good, and has some good stuff in it as well. It works awesome in stir fry type meals.
So yeah…with options like this (click here for the site) I’m not really sure why anyone would need the likes of soy sauce. You can find it in many grocery stores now, but more in health food markets.

I’ll second that!
It also makes a great topping for salads! And it has some good shit in it too! So, its not just one of those ‘light’ less guilt things…it’s actually a GOOD thing.
Try it soon.
