A few simple FOOD RULES
January 13, 2010 by OCstrength
Most of this post comes from information found in the book written by Michael Pollan, titled FOOD RULES.
Slowly but surely, I intend to change my eating habits for good. I must admit, it is hard to change so many years worth of habits…not to mention, educate myself as much as possible on the types of foods available. (the manufacturers will not do that for you)
Yes, it is overwhelming…and NOBODY is going to be perfect. I don’t give a shit what they say, everyone has faults and fuck ups. The idea is to make them ‘treats or cheats’ in moderation. Another side note; moderation is not ‘a little everyday’.
I am currently doing plenty of ‘reading, research, and personal experiments on myself…and doing the best I can to find ‘real food’ readily available.
Let us start off with a few basic rules I will work on to make a constant habit.
Please note; I am not even close to being smart enough to make these ‘rules’ up. I highly recommend you purchasing “Food Rules” which is easy to read, simple to understand, and sticks to a few basic rules….it is written by Michael Pollan. It’s a paperback, and will run you about $11. This book will soon be a part of all my beez in peez reading arsenal. I got mine at Borders, but im sure a search of Google will yield you many purchasing option.
On with a few of the rules. This first one is not from the book, but I think it needs to be repeated…LOUDLY.
1. Eat MORE fruits and vegetables.
Let us worry about it being organic once we learn to eat more fruits and vegetables. I repeat, EAT MORE fruits and vegetables. Unless you are already highly skilled at this, it is safe to say you probably need to double your daily fruits and vegetables intake. I repeat, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES…not grains and flour. Once you can eat them, then begin looking for a farmers market or organic CA grown products.

Dude, he said it was REAL grape juice!
2. Avoid packages.
Of course you’ll need packages for a few items… and i guess you can count an egg carton a ‘package’…but I am more referring to the frozen, microwavable, crackers and cookies type of packages. Guess what? Fresh fruits and vegetables usually don’t come in a package!
3. If it has more than 5 ingredients…BEWARE.
Adding to this rule; If you’ve never heard of the ingredients, or wouldn’t use them at home…avoid them. Have you ever used cellulose, maltodextrin, or all types of phosphates and gums…whatever the fuck those are, to cook at home? I highly doubt it. For example, butter is real butter…margarine is a bunch of fake chemicals. Wouldn’t you think bread should just contain either flour or wheat flour? HAAAA!! Go grab your bread now, ill wait. You’re going to be shocked to find out how much SHIT is in that $1 loaf of bread you thought was a great deal. All chemicals designed to preserve shelf life and make a bigger profit.

That cereal makes me tired.
4. REAL food is more expensive.
So, I understand ‘times are tough’ and nobody has a bunch of money to spend on healthy food. BUT…here is the but, with whole, real. healthy food…it takes less to feel ‘full and satisfied’ and I won’t even get into the medical costs associated with poor eating habits. You will have to shop more, because real food dies faster than bulk packs of frozen items from Costco..so stop making excuses and shop more. REAL FOOD DIES FASTER.
I, personally, shop at a few stores looking for the best values. I will buy meat and freeze it if needed, and I also frequent the ‘discount’ rack at all the stores I visit. Most items will be expiring in the next few days, but the discount is worth the trouble of cooking them right away.
In our society today, we have put too much emphasis on quantity over quality. The ’savings’ is passed on to the consumer with plenty of health issues to go with it.
You may have to cut back on some other things, such as; bar trips, vacations, material items, movies, eating out, golf, getting your hair and nails done weekly, and other various leisure activities. BUT…here is another BUT...I still think it’s hilarious, well, actually sad, that you would say you cannot afford to eat like this…but spend at least one night a week drinking at a bar. Or a couple hundred bucks on a purse or a new hair-style. $8-10 for a drink is OK? But a few extra bucks for real food is not? C’mon!
I will continue to post about food rules and ideas in the next few posts to come.

What?! I'm not fat, so I don't care.
People, FOOD is the missing key is. Don’t look to me for some super hero workout that’s going to allow you to eat whatever you want. And please, do not blame me for your lack of results…which is caused by your lack of effort. And yes, you may be young and have no issues with the shit substances we now call food….but you will, eventually. Poor eating and lack of exercise will make you FAT…if it has not already, and it will eventually make you very unhealthy. Take a look back down your bloodline right now…think….any weird diseases or genetic issues in your family? Diabetes, heart issues, obese relatives, bone issues, cancers, etc?
In the book, Food Rules, the author says, “It is better to pay the grocer, than to pay the doctor.”
Go buy the book.

Once in a lifetime offer! Blahblibbity blah sales pitch here! Get ready, this is going to be awesome! (yeah, oh joy)
Hey (insert name here)
Even though I am emailing you directly, don’t respond because I will never get back to you…I don’t even check my own email. It’s called marketing!
I have some kick ass news for you today!
Because you’re one of my faithful readers, we have negotiated a great deal with (insert product here). This thing blows the socks off the other (insert product here) out there!
It wasn’t easy, so I had to promise I would only make it available for 7 days, and copies are limited! (even tho it’s a pdf book) For the first 100 people to email us get this promotion. Don’t worry, we never sell your info…and you’ll only get 3 stupid emails like this from me each day! So, act now, and change your life for good! Rest assured, I am talking to YOU….not some mass email list.

Wait, what are we selling on this one?
Oh yeah, its free but we need your credit card because you definitely need a new set of tips each month for just $49. You never know when some ground breaking new exercise or machine will come out!
Yeah! Blow me…. Man…shut the fuck up already! Seriously, it’s annoying now. I am about one nerve away from calling out names and being black-balled for good.
You want to know a secret? THERE ARE NO FUCKIN SECRETS!
It’s called a commitment to fitness and nutrition. Whatever it is, losing weight, getting stronger, etc… Basic lifting, good eating, and proper recovery, is all you need. Before you get these down, stop reading everything!
It’s hilarious how many people change their ‘views’ on things once profit gets involved. I will find articles on how the kettlebell is not an efficient tool, but then see kettlebells listed on the website….of course set up as an affiliate deal. I remember a couple people swearing against the methods used by Crossfit, then completely turning into a human crossfit advertising machine. Seriously? The same holds true with olympic lifts, They hate em one month, useless…the next we have instructional DVDs being sold on their site, and now it’s ’something you MUST do’ for total progression. Never once saying, ‘I was wrong’ and have some new info.
Seriously, make up your fuckin mind!
Listen, with no money at stake…ill let you in on some secrets for the average person.
1. Only true advanced lifters need to worry about ‘changing’ things up very often. Chains, special jackets, state of the art machinery and supplements…etc. Most of these other guys keep new clients on the same shit for at least a year, until the basics are met.
2. If you don’t squat, learn how.
3. Deadlifts….see #2.
4. Your cardio should be brief bursts, but intense.
5. You CANNOT get a six pack of abs if you are still ‘fat’. You lose fat, you gain abs. It does not happen the other way, no matter how many books you read.
6. Nutrition is going to be argued until the end of time. There is not many that agree on all. Just look at how many DOCTORS have come out with completely different diets….DOCTORS, not trainers. Do some research on your own. I mean real research, not something a supplement ad told you. My main rule is to eat real food, not tainted with science.
7. For you muscle mag readers….many of the top mags are owned by supplement companies. Ha! It’s a great way to advertise your shit.
8. Your weight loss products are filled with poison and lack real nutrients.
9. Most protein powders contain soy, which has shown to have negative impact on male testosterone levels over time. FYI: test is good for muscle growth.
10. You are a guinea pig. You will have to find out what works for yourself. 99% of people CANNOT follow anything 100%.

Yes sir, this has proven safe and to help build muscle. Asterisk.
The biggest secret of them all, which Zach Even Esh posted about….it’s called hard work.
Giving up your favorite shit food for fruit is hard work. Stretching even tho you’re in a rush is hard work. Keeping track of food logs and always striving to make the next killer workout, is hard work. Cooking your own food, cutting back on portions, or forcing yourself to eat for muscle…is all hard work.
Fuck that, Mike! I mean, who has time for all that anyhow? We have lives, we’re busy! That’s too much work…
But really, is it? I think having a real disability and fighting thru it, is really, really, hard work.
It’s no wonder the diet and supplement industry are so huge… People already know the truth. They would like to think there may be something else tho. Regardless of what pill does what, and what foods add muscle faster…it all comes down to ass kicking hard work….and discipline.
People these days hate hard work. Unfortunately for them, they have not invented a pill or powder that keeps you motivated and focused on your goals…and especially one that makes hard work, easy. So, if you are not willing be disciplined and put in the hard work…I have nothing to sell you.
Now stop looking for magic beans and get out there and killlit!
-Mike.
PS: Don’t get me wrong…there are tons of good info out there, and I have mentioned some of the sites quite a few times. Stop being lazy…
Well, it’s here. Now what?

Well, the clock hit midnight and all kinds of magical shit happen…I think. I fell asleep at 11 and woke up at 1am. I’m old and boring now, sorry.
I am not one for resolutions, but here are 5 things I look to really ‘get in tune’ with this year. None of it is new, and none of it is old. Each topic has about 5 sides to it, and it all takes plenty of time to perfect and make your own ideal.

They see me rollin, they hatin...
1. Eat REAL FOOD a wo/man would eat. I have talked about this recently and now feel it’s like beating a dead horse. But wait, is it a real horse…or a GMO horse? HAAA!! But….Just so you know…I am not ‘very’ concerned if a baby cow is taken from it’s mother, or if cows are being mistreated…I just don’t want myself or my family to suffer because of it. People are getting sick! And really, if your biggest concern is how an animal is treated and you have to make everyone aware of it…but have no clue about any of the PEOPLE problems out there…mistreatment is across the board….then what kind of person are you, really?
2. Be kind to those in need. Typically, I am a nice guy at heart. This year I will go far and beyond to show it. They were drunk, but I gave em my cooked chicken breast and some bananas I got from the store….because they asked for change. I was hungry, so I went and got more. My gas tank was on E, and I needed to collect…but the lady holding a HUNGRY sign got $1 and a can of tuna. If you really can’t afford training, but have a real desire to change your life…I am always looking for that eye of the tiger…and God will provide.
3. Relax. No, I do not mean with a beer or a vacation. I am talking about ‘de-stressing’ myself thru slow form exercise and meditation…and of course, prayer. Thru everyday problems, it builds up. I would look for a release thru ‘killlin’it’ and it worked, for the moment. In reality, I was compounding my problems without relaxation. Stress in every form will ruin you…some faster than others. Like I said, no more guessing. Don’t you think for one second that this will take anything from my intensity…actually, it will get stronger once I learn to shut it down when it’s harmful.
4. Learn, research and do something. OK, so, most people question what I say or flat out ignore me because….I am not a nutritionist, I haven’t been training for X amount of years, I don’t have this X cert…and so on. OK, so, tell me this…why do all these so called ‘expert’ trainers, doctors, nutritionists, etc….have so many different opinions when it comes to fitness…and especially FOOD? Why don’t you get off your ass and start doing some research and reading on your own….genius! We have doctors who say meat and cheese is all you need and others that tell u to live off beans and rice and avoid all animal products. Wait…they’re all DOCTORS…so they have to be right. Right? Well, for me…both fitness and food is going to be ol skool, leave the science in the damn classroom. Get strong and eat real food. I hated science anyhow…
5. Actions. Stop being a self doubting, energy sucking, negative, pussy! Contribute to the positive universe and do something! Your thoughts will become things…eventually. If you’re not where you want to be. Change it; first in thought, then act upon it…immediately.
No more waiting on the sidelines for me.
-Mike.

Food is Fuel III: The final note.

So, beastola, WTF do we do?
Well, here is my whole take on all the food and crap going on out there. First off, I am still learning…we all are. I just choose to give you the info right away so you can research it for yourself.

Look for GMO Free
Here are some immediate changes I have already made.
1. NO more sweet & low, period.
2. Use real, organic butter.
3. No oils, not even olive oil.
4. No more soy containing protein powders.
5. I am avoiding foods that contain most of the fake sugars or hydro oils, which is about 90% of products out there!
6. No more lowfat or non-fat milk.
7. More nuts.
8. Less protein in my diet. Most of my focus will be good natural fats, and a quality source of carbs.
9. All rice or beans are made at home and pre-soaked overnight….at the very least.
10. All animal products from ‘Drug Free- Grass Fed’ animals.
This has not been easy, to say the least. Most supermarkets (even the ones with healthy names) carry products that have become very good at deceiving the public. Labels are made different. Genetically modified products are not being disclosed. It seems like if it is organic, and real…the label will tell you 199 times because its just not common. And, of course, the price will be much higher.
That brings us to the other problem, the price. Times are tough! But…if we continue to demand more and more of it and the other shit doesn’t sell, they must fill the shelves with better foods. By ignoring the problem and blaming other things, and getting excited because some super freak chicken is on sale…we are only contributing to the poison.
Just imagine if everything you ate was no longer REAL anymore. Every single meal contained some type of scientific modification to it. And, no, I do not mean pasteurizing milk, or removing bacteria from foods. Whatever…that is normal. Pumping a cow or chicken full of super growth hormones is not. Side question; for you gym rats, why are steroids ’so BAD’ to take directly? But, it’s ok for us to consume them thru animals and animal products…do we not filter them out thru or internal organs anyhow?
I challenge you to do some of your own research on these ‘additives’ given to our animals….read into the ingredients. If taking steroids is dangerous for us, then I don’t want any animals to take them either…especially before I eat it!

Dude is on tren for sure!
For you veggies…don’t give me that shit either…you eat plenty of dairy products and they all come from the same ‘over juiced’ cow that I eat. Your grains are toxic, your flour is sugar, and soy is flat out dangerous if eaten on a regular basis. I won’t even get into the fertility issue this type of diet causes. All this shit creates estrogen…and that turns you into a pussy. Guys, estrogen eats muscle…ladies, estrogen stores and promotes body fat.
I said it before, I am not a nutritionist and advise you to do some research…oh wait, you’re too busy. So busy that you’re willing to ‘trust’ this sick industry to feed your kids.
8 out of 10 people will say these crackers which boasts “wheat cracker” and “high in fiber” on the box, as healthy. Ingredients: soy bean oil, hydronated corn oil, high fructose corn syrup, and that’s all I need to see…
Or a certain cereal that says ‘Good source of vitamin D’ and it is less than 10% of your daily recommendation. Here’s a tip; get your big ass outside once in a while and you will get some natural vitamin D!! Oh but wait, a little sun will cause cancer and your cock to fall off…or your boobs to get tied in knots.
Anyhow, this is probably the last you’ll hear of this topic from me…for a while. This type of stuff makes people angry, and I can’t afford to lose anymore business. Not to mention, I AM NOT A NUTRITIONIST. This is all my opinion from research done by others…much smarter than me.
I am sorry, but you did it to yourself. Stop accepting allergies, colds, flus, genetic issues, and other shit as common things and dig deeper into the problem. We are turning farms into science experiments…we are the guinea pigs.
QUESTION reasons, look up words, look into companies and how your foods are processed. I think it was Paul Chek who said, ‘the biggest myth in the fitness industry is that just because people look good in the mirror…that means they are healthy’.
Do you even care what your kids eat? Just because it is ‘legal’ and sold in grocery stores doesn’t make it good. The big household names are lying to us on a daily basis, and it pisses me off!
I am done with this now. Have fun.
-Mike.
PS: The hot chick on the Special K box….does not eat Special K.
PS2: Yes, other societies live off grains, rice and beans…but they also process and ‘detox’ it much better than we do.
PS3: All of your ‘fitness’ gyms, push this shit like hotcakes! Most even have a certain brand they are ‘contracted’ with.
New Beast10: Nutrition is fuel. Part 1

New Beast10, fuel edition.
So, we have plenty of different diet plans, outlines, shakes, microwave meals, point systems, bars, supplements, powders, etc.. So much different shit out there is it insane!
I am going to go ahead and try to eat ‘real food’ for a change. For your own research, I suggest you visit www.westonaprice.org and read up.
I will do this as a 30 day experiment and see how I feel, and what the body results are. Please remember, I am also ‘resting’ and my workouts will be limited to light cardio activity and maybe some bands and light (2-10#) dumbbells for rehab purposes.
For one, I do believe the food industry to be suspect at best. Of course, I also think the fitness industry is the same way.
I also want everyone to understand I am not here to offend anyone with this, it is just the research I have done and an experiment I am going to run on myself.
For the month of January, here are my staples of food.
-Meat: Chicken, tuna, organs, lots of organs. The meat organs are the most nutrient dense meat available.
I will do my very best to stick with ‘free range, grass-fed’ animals only. (more on this later)
-Eggs: I will eat whole eggs, not egg whites. Daily consumption will probably 3-5 eggs. I once again do not believe all the hype and blame the egg is getting.
-Cooking Oils: I am not going to use any ’sprays’ oils or low calorie cooking preservatives. I will use real butter, not margarine, and I will use animal fats. Organic, dark, butter. Not the sick white looking ‘low calorie spread’ people use. I will also use coconut oil.
Milk: I will not consume very much milk, but it will be limited to RAW milk, goat milk or coconut milk.
Nuts: Plain almonds and walnuts.
Fruits & Veggies: Local and organic fruits only.
For breads, I will stick to flourless bread as I have in the past and will soak all my beans and whole grain rice before cooking it. I will not use any ‘instant-rice’ meals or anything of the sort.
I will update more on the grains as I gather more info. Just so you know, most grains contain natural toxins that aren’t properly prepared for us before being sold in the super markets.
All results start from the inside-out.
We are a sick country, and I think the culprit is our nutrition.

They're making bundles, while you get sick.
This is part 1 of 3 in a series of ‘FOOD’. Next we will discuss a few myths being tossed around daily.
Wouldn’t it suck if you found out most of what we are being told is actually just a big lie? This is not new info, and is readily available.
-Mike.
PS: And slash disclaimer…I am in no way, shape, or form…or paid remotely as much as, a nutritionist. This is all from research done by others. Feel free to visit the websites below for more info on how we are ruining our children and their children by contributing to very poor nutrition selection.

Where’s the beef? Veggie tips.

True Vegetarians….
You should be eating PLENTY of VEGETABLES. This should go without saying, but seems to be a problem for most.
Eat green vegetables! I personally do not like corn or carrots as part of my veggie intake, but they’re much better than pastas or starchy 99 cents for 10lbs of potatoes. I would much rather have sweet potatoes.

They taste great!
First, eat them…then worry about the vitamins being lost from boiling, microwaving, etc…just look for organic local vegetables if possible.
The same holds true with fruit. Just eat it. Most of your carbs should be coming from fruits and vegetables, period. Wash it and do your research on the pesticides stuff.
You can also add in nuts, and beans for protein. I prefer unsalted, plain almonds. For beans, I like black beans, green lentil beans, pretty much any lentil bean is fine.

Cook properly for fat loss.
Other sources of carbs should be sweet potatoes, oatmeal, and brown rice. For fat loss, you simply eat less of these. I also suggest adding a low carb protein shake in during the day as well. Since nobody reading this yet is trying to deadlift 500lbs or grow to 250#s in size, let’s not worry too much about the protein types and all that jibberish for now.
To lose weight, your should eat your biggest meals for breakfast, and post workout. If fat loss is the goal, limit your night time carbs, it’s pretty simple. And obviously, you limit the sugar and drink water…always drink water!
So, if you’re eating real beans, sweet potatoes, brown rice, vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, protein shakes, and drinking plenty of water…and of course sticking to a good workout program, you will get results. If you are a vegetarian that still consumes dairy, then you have even more options for protein and carbs. I do suggest limiting dairy during fat loss programs.
For weight loss, I suggest smaller portion sizes, less dairy, and less oil.
If it still doesn’t work, you are cheating…and lying to yourself. There are plenty of STRONG vegetarians, as well and non-meat eaters that lose weight all the time.
-Mike.
PS: Flour is not a vegetable.

DAY ONE: Workout, meals, motivation, madness
December 8, 2009 by OCstrength

Goooooood morning beeeztolas, warning..this is a long one. (she said..no wait, nevermind)
The beast is back, and he is pissed at the world again. Don’t ask me why, I think things are going pretty well considering all the obstacles so far. Beastola isn’t very patient most of the time.
The body stepped up big time and did his part today, the beast wanted more…the general kept the plan in plain view…the body stepped in and said, ENOUGH. The body almost shut down and went on strike. That’s what happens when you listen to your body. Sometimes it can be very loud.
Today’s WOD: Done at the local 24 because of the rain, some altering was done to the workout. More reps and rounds, as I used the 20# instead of the 44#. Carrying the 44 into the gym would have been too much for them…sad, I know.
Solid Warm Up, which got my heart rate up and some sweat flowing. Plenty of jump rope work and just total body movement. It was a mental warm up as well. It may have been a little much but I wanted to make sure the joints and muscles were warm and ready to do some work today.
Two Rounds of 75 sec. kettlebell swings separated by 60 sec of rest.
Two Rounds of 90 sec. kettlebell 4 figure 8s to 3 presses, then rotate arms separated by 60 sec of rest.
One Round of 90 sec kettlebell figure 8s to swings
One Round of 2 min kettlebell combo, swings, 8s, 2 high pulls, separated arms with rest stance
By this time I noticed the heart rate was way too high for my normal ‘lite’ workout session. I was only using a 20# kettlebell and I was getting my ass kicked. I knew something didn’t seem ‘right’….but the 3 decided to stick to the plan.
Bearcrawl the room back and forth, about 50 feet total.
Tried a few burpees and was not confident enough to continue with them.
Up downs over the kettlebell, CLEAN the kettle bell up. Rotate arms every up down. 30 reps.
Up downs to box jumps. I got thru about 12 of these in a row and stopped for a break. This is where things got ugly. First it was a queezy feeling, then quickly turned into a tunnel vision zone and started getting dark.
No, not my mental state…the actual room. I sat down where I was at, and collected my thoughts for a few minutes. The two in the room glanced over, but just continued to do crunches. They probably thought I had a seizure and passed out. The twisting up down to a box jump isnt something you see very often there.
That was it, done. Stretched, watered up, and foam rolled some as well. I walked out with my tail between my legs.
I got whooped.
It’s obvious, this time around my body ain’t fuckin around. It has been a month and a half of shit. The beast never took anytime off, he just hibernated. It’s pretty sad how fast you can lose ground once you begin to cave in. Doing anything respectable on FGB is just a fantasy at this point. I would puke all over myself and pass out in it half way thru the second round. It’s sad.
Fuck it. Stick to the plan, guys. Even this, we knew this was a strong possibility. The plan… Tomorrow is a rest day, part of the alternating rest/work plan to start. And ya know, I am glad for once. I am sure the body is happy too. But in the last 5 days, tomorrow will be rest day 4. That’s 1 workout today, 3 rest days prior and Tuesday is a restola day.
I am not sore, and the troubled spots seem to be ok…but I am a little scared to be honest. I pride myself on the ability to keep going. Today was a reality check, I got bitch slapped. That was not expected, nor was it fun.
Tomorrow’s rest will do me good. I will hit some lite abs and get warm enough to get another deep stretch in. I will also do some focus and mental training again. It is pretty clear this is a whole new ball game, folks. I have some ground to make up, wreckage to clean up, and to be honest…just allot of stuff to un-fu** up.
A solid rest day of active recovery makes you hungry. Physically and mentally, and I am itchin’ to get back in there and build up the endurance ASAP.
I felt like a little kid on a really crazy roller coaster. When it was over, I wanted to sneak on again…but knew I would probably puke…or get a headache or some other crazy thing roller coasters cause…. Instead, I will be a responsible little boy and get back in line.

Today’s Lessons:
1. Be realistic about your current situation. Always set the bar high, but don’t take yourself out of the game in the first quarter.
2. Even when you’re not working out, staying active is important.
3. More importantly, what you feed your body is even more important.
4. Following the plan works. (given that it’s a good plan) By sticking to the LAWS of the plan today, I think I saved myself another set-back. I went til I had no more to give, but I did not crash.
I also resisted the temptation and utter exhaustion, and still did my stretch and deep tissue work after the workout. I will stick to the plan tomorrow as well, no exceptions…
Day One Nutrition Points: We did acceptable today, but I am not happy with some of my choices and timing of meals today.
Water: Could have been better, but was not. No excuse, and the coffee rule was not enforced. Tomorrow will be different. I seen what it did to me.
Junk: The crap was avoided for the most part. All except two oreo cookies….I told you I would be detailed.
Packaged Carbs: The breads were limited to 1 slice of ezekiel and 1 wrap.
Protein: My protein intake was on point today. This is not usually an issue.
Main Meals:
Burrito made from 3 eggs, veggies, and a half pack of lunch meat. Wrapped with multi grain wrap with 18 carbs and 9g of protein.
Post workout I had a whopping shake with 40g of protein and 30g of carbs, which included sugars.
Dinner was pork and heaping veggies.
So here we go, day 2…..resting, rehabbing, fine tuning the diet, and getting ready to launch the first beastmas09 OCSF beast gathering campaign.
As far as the body is concerned, it is a day for rest…everything else will remain busy.
This time it’s personal, it ain’t some self induced anger management treatment. It is not about any one person, or number as a body fat % or personal best on any one exercise. I’m calm, there is nothing to hate. It is what it is.
I didn’t even weigh in today, or take any before pictures yet.
Why? I don’t know…well, actually, if you haven’t realized that I don’t do this to myself for just physical appearance sake…you just don’t know me very well, or at all. It’s going to be different this time around.
This time I have something to prove….to myself. Fu** all the haters, nay sayers, and lack of faithers… This time I need to prove my own self worth, discipline, and overall relentless pursuit of my own success. The majority of that has nothing to do with tire flips, kettlebells, or even protein intake.
So, will we just write off another 2nd place, or mediocre result…call it a New Years Resolution….part 7? Keep reading more and more about something we don’t do, or listen to things that ‘pump’ us up for a couple hours then it’s back to the norm? Not beastola, he is awake! Bruised, broken, bleeding, popping, puking, or passing out…it don’t matter. It is NOT the physical that makes the WARRIOR.
Beastola's Back again.
C’mon! Let us killlit this day!
Do something to move forward today. Killlit!
-Mike.
PS: That’s day one… It’s time to move the army ahead. More video ‘updates’ this time too!
I will be back soon…but feel free to comment, email, or even use TWITTER. I have activated my account again. http://twitter.com/McNeilTraining and I will respond as soon as I can.
Keep killin’ it beez in peez, and stay strong! I’m here when needed…
ZzzZZzzzZz time.
The birth of Beastmas09: The Eve

Beastmas Eve,
I feel like a kid who knows what he has under the tree, but still has to wait until Christmas morning to open it. Ok, ok, I was poor and never had presents…so im lying.

Let’s try this one;
Twas the night before beastmas and all thru the house, not a beast was stirring…well, at least not for another 4 or 5 hours, then he will be up!
Beastola is waking up at midnight..we promised him. But, I’m leaving again. Vacation time! My bones hurt, maybe i’ll go somewhere warmer than Cali this time of the year…it is my fantasy, I can go anywhere I want!
Don’t worry! I brought in help this time around. When we tranqualized the beastola and put him into hibernation, I also brought in an outside ‘consultant’ who has no job except to stick to the PLAN. No feelings at all, not partial to anything or anyone. We call him the General. His job; keep the beastola in check…stick to the fuckin plan. I also promoted ‘the body’ to a higher position within the company too. We will listen to our body this time around. He has launched his own healing campaign as well. During the negotiations, we had to agree that we would push workouts to his discretion during beastmas09.
I already scripted the plan to the smallest details. I have side plans if the first plan doesn’t work. The outline is simple; Stay on track, and I can’t fail.
It is December, and time to hit the streets again and gather some more beez in peez while the above mentioned makes beastmas09 happen. That is MY job. I need to find 15 new people, some how, some way, during this month and the first half of January. Beastmas…means more beasts.
So what does beastola do? Why wake him up? If there is the General to stick to the plan and the Body has more say so now on training days…what’s left to do?
Don’t tell him, but we need beastola around to be happy…to be alive. We just cannot let him kill us in the process of keeping us alive!
The Beastola will just GO. What he does best, go-go-go. It’s like bowling with the gutter bumpers up this time around. This time it’s personal, no outside bullshit distractions…no hatred to unleash thru killlit sessions on myself. Mike is detached, and the process has been set up. The right personal has been put in place and we are ready to begin.
Perfection thru execution will come thru discipline.
Discipline is EVERYTHING. Discipline includes all the other words, will power, desire, yadda yadda. It pertains to training, not training, over training, diet, under-eating, not enough water, or not resting. To sum it up; discipline is DOING WHAT YOU HAVE TO, EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T WANT TO. Discipline is not just one thing.

The reason I hurt….It was not that I did whatever I wanted…it was the fact that I DID NOT do what I didn’t want to. Get it? I do…and I am now acting accordingly. There is ALWAYS a lesson in every battle. The lesson never tells you to be a pussy…but it may tell you to adapt.
I promise to share this Beastmas09, with my beez in peez. I got plenty of nice ‘gifts’ for everyone involved!
Help build the Empire, forward the post! Anyone can enjoy some Beastmas…it’s good for ya!
-Mike.
[BEASTOLA RETURNS09]
Part 2 coming soon!
PS: Stay tuned for the first week training schedule. Getting back into the basics of killin’ it again.
As a bonus to my vegan beez in peez, I will be going vegetarian every third day in December.
Six Days to Prepare: Food 101
December 1, 2009 by OCstrength

I would say good morning, but today I really don’t care how your morning is. This week is dedicated to preparation for beastmas09. It’s not about you this week, it’s about me. If you don’t like it, find another trainer, or something else to read. I don’t care, whatever… It’s not that I don’t like ya, of course not. I’m still here to help, but you’ll need to ask for it now. Crazy, I know…
Anyhow, I’m just retarded and had a screw up on the counts I guess. So here we are, six days to get my shit together and make it happen again. Sure, I will be 100% healed and ready to go…yup, that’s what the voice tells me. Anyhow, it’s more than just insane workouts this time around anyhow. Time to attack again.
But yeah, I guess you could probably use some of this too…hint hint.
Food Outline:
By now, we all know I am pretty simple and you’ll see the same shit over and over. Find something that works for you.
I will probably enter this thing around 178-180#s. I haven’t weighed myself in about 3 weeks, but I can tell it’s not pretty. But..here is the ’shitty but’ (that’s funny) I know I have lost plenty of muscle, so the scale will be misleading for now. For all I know, I could have lost 3lbs of muscle and gained 5lbs of fat…pretty shitty, but!
Anyhow, for at least the first 2 weeks I plan on following a rough protein to carb ratio of 180lbs x 1.2g of protein and a “carb” ratio of 180lbs x .6g for 108 carbs. These will include all sugars found in ‘products’. It also includes all the ‘bread, rice, pastas, and potato’ types. I will not count any carbs from fresh vegetables, or the LIMITED fruit I will consume. My fruit will mainly consist of 3 apples per day. For fat intake, the obvious fats need to be avoided (no fucking junk food anymore) but I am going to allow myself 80g of good proteinl and nut based fats. 43g of fat from a burger is not considered good. FYI- a handful of almonds will probably add 20g of fat to your total.
So, to break it down: Two Weeks of the following, based on 180lbs prediction.
PROTEIN- 216g
‘CARBS’-108
FAT-80
APPROXIMATE CALORIES: 2,016
But remember, I am not counting the 3 apples or any fresh veggies I eat. No bananas, and no carrots for me.
Goal:
Short version; to look better than my last before and after photos.
Food Tips & Items: Here are a few of the ‘packaged products’ I will count.
1. Carb Master Yogurt 12p/4c
2. Greek Yogurt, NF 24p/9c
3. Cottage Cheese, NF 15/5 per serving. The whole container is 60/20
4. Canned Chicken 22p/4fat
5. Tomato Tuna, Starkist 16p/6c
6. Tomato & Onion Tuna, StarKist 13p/6c
7. Vogel, Flax Seed bread 6p/13c/2.5fat
8. Beef or Turkey Jerky, 15p/5c
9. Protein Shake, with 8oz NF Milk 33p/15c
10. CHEAT Protein Bar, avg 20p/25c/5fat
These are my ‘packaged items’ I will consume on the go. Beast on the go…
It is time to get really fuckin serious again…which includes 12 new clients in December.
Today is ‘attack 2 local gyms with flyers’ day. I am BACK!
I really have ZERO TIME for people that choose to play games with themselves and waste everyone’s time….including my own.
I am going to get RIPPED and build my fuckin army, are you in or not?

ARE YOU READY?
-Mike.
PS: Stay tuned for more food tips and the first week of workouts. We also have an interview coming up with a loyal soldier. Someone who lost over 50#s and has kept it off…even thru injuries.
