This conversation happened already, day one…

Discipline is crucial.

B: General, The rain ruined the day.  We have nothing better to do, we can’t hit the streets.  Lets just go nuts on day one!  It is appropriate ya know?
General: Sir, Mike said you would say this.
Body: No, B…not a good idea from what I can see.
B: Fuck Mike, he left us remember?  This is bullshit. Its raining, we are wasting time!!! Lets go!!!
General: Sir, Mike said you would definitely say this too.  We must have faith, he has this in the plans.  We are NOT changing the prescribed.
Body: Don’t fuck us up this time!
B: Fuck you both, go home.

My thank you post…and I will try to keep it as warm hearted as possible…without any sarcasm. For me, that ain’t easy…and that’s not sarcasm either.

Thank YOU.

Seriously. Since stepping into this insane thing I now call a way of life…or career….I guess you could call it, I have met some pretty damn awesome people…and realized I knew some pretty damn awesome people as well.

People, Dean’s a website genius and does insane work with very limited things. His hard work is unheard of out there right now, and he is just basically an honest guy. Please check his company out for any website work you might need. Just ask me and ill get you his info.

Well….thank you all. Fu*kin’ A buddy! THAAAAAAANKS!

Without getting into specific names, you know who you are…thanks, to my people at AFG. Very best people I have met in my life, actually…much closer than my own family outside of the apartment dwellers I reside with. I mean really, I cant even explain all the memories from the time put in on the phone and just being around the folks there. Insane shit…and to be honest, leaving was the hardest thing ive ever done in my life. Thanks again for helping me with that as well…more importantly, thanks for helping make me a real man in the real world. Keep killin it fellas! Really, mucho respecto for all the help.

My beeeeeeeeeeasts and stetttts in progress, you’re already beasts…were just exposing it! Thanks for killin’ it daily and throwing the coals into the insanity stove…keeps the TRAIN moving ahead!

Don’t lose the killlllit attitude and the eye of the tiger intensity.

Folks, it’s a struggle. I am here to help thru this next challenge.

Ok folks, that being said…let’s get ready to get absolutely nutty the next 3 weeks. Results are guaranteed or your money back..or email actually…HA!

I actually got a few people to COMMIT to some goals…NICE! This is actually going to take place, NICER!!

I’m about to become very useful…and demanding.

Stay tuned for more details.

For the new folk, Im “Anti Your-Gym”

Happy Friday folks,

Listen, don’t cheat yourself…Friday is not an excuse to be a fu** off and ruin any hardwork you have put in.

This video explains my thoughts about your local gym. It’s not new..

I suggest you ask me questions pertaining to real training, and not anything to do with the stupid curl cables… Unless you’re at 24 rehabbing something..

Seriously, your better off picking up a 10# rock and tossing it as far as you can, then sprinting to it.  Sounds funny, but im not joking…

Anyone do push ups, pull ups, chin ups,  or dips anymore? I’m just sayin’…  When I go to 24 there are about 2 or 3 things I use…simply because I do not have room for it.  I hate the place.  Its cold all the time, it stinks, and everyone wears a sleeveless shirt.

For $12 per month I can go to any one any place after a killer workout and shower and be back on the road to help make beeeeasts again…so yeah, it does have it’s place.

Get comfy doing un-comfy things, or stay the way you are.

Well, this was the personal goal.  I will conquer this and then move into getting the forum set up and my own beasts in progress listing their goals and progress.  Everyone is doing awesome, it’s pretty sick!

I only gave myself 18 days from the pictures.  I have done 3 insane workouts, 2 came prior to the pictures.

That’s ok…im not fu**ing joking, and I am going to make this happen.

Today, well, Wednesday, I did 250 burpees in all types of variations.

Tomorrow’s WOD will be my own variation of Fight Gone Bad or Karen, both borrowed from the CF arsenal.

My food intake will be near perfect.

Talk soon, folks.

Seriously tho, are you a GERBIL?

Here are some classic symptoms that you have the Gerbil Syndrome, or well on your way.

1.  No matter how many times you come close to puking, you can’t help but wonder if it was a good workout or not because ‘you didn’t sweat as much as you normally do after 60 minutes of treadmill work.’

2.  You own a treadmill, but still go to the fitness club to use theirs.

3. You have waited in line for a treadmill.

4.  Your cardio involves reading, or a television.

5.  You actually believe and use the calorie readings on the treadmill.

6. You think the 60 minutes a day on the treadmill is worth having a $49 a month gym pass.

7. You can catch up on TV shows while you workout.

8. You get excited when new models of the elliptical come out.

9. Your warmup, workout, and cool down, are all done on the treadmill.

10. You visit the gym on a regular basis, BUT STILL…have a potbelly.  Just like, well, a GERBIL.

KILL IT!

MMA Style Strength & Conditioning

I know very little about fighting…

I do know that this workout below was pretty kick ass…  For the MMA junkies, this type of training will have you conditioned and ready for fight day.  The idea is to build REAL muscle and strength, and not fake beach pump and oil…as well, as train in your normal fighting gyms.

Feel free to visit Zach’s blog..he has tons of stuff for wrestlers on his site.  www.undergroundstrengthcoach.com

This workout definitely helped increase my muscle endurance as well as burned some fat in the process.  I had to edit some out for time…but it was definitely a good conditioning workout!

This was BEASTLY!

If you are looking to build your own arsenal of equipment, browse craigslist daily.  I picked up a few weights for these today as well.

I have also picked up power towers, york dumbbells, army bags for sandbag lifting.  The deals on craigslist are endless if you know how to use it.

I see a few days worth of rust removal in my future!!

31 Day Fat Loss Challenge: Personal Results are In!!!

It was definitely a mental and physical battle for me I HATE DIETING!   But this challenge opened my eyes to everyday food and the way it works. I really thought I knew, but really I had no idea.
For the strict diet, I was not perfect, but I was good for the most part.  I think I did very well on the training portion, which helped with some of the ‘cheats’ I had setbacks on.
I can’t promise I will follow the same diet routine from here out, but the foundation of my nutritional intake has completely changed for good.  My diet was a huge contributor to the weight loss.  I can appreciate real foods again, and am aware of what I am consuming…even if it says ‘healthy’ on the packaging.
Really, beyond the weight loss and just being mentally stronger- I have learned a tremendous amount about the body, nutrition and the mental aspect of fitness as well. The challenge flat out pushed me to exercise everything, including my mind.

I do have a full time job in the finance industry and..I have to be there Monday thru Friday. I would typically workout for an early lunch at 11 or so. I don’t have any kids, but I do have a nephew and I seem him on a daily basis. Of course, I pay bills and do normal everyday people stuff too. So, it’s not like I have hours and hours to workout and work on my diet. I just didn’t makes excuses for 31 days!

The Results: So, from May 1st at 5pm until now, May 31st at 5pm,  I lost a total of 14 pounds. I do realize some is going to be sweat and water, and I may gain a few back pretty fast. (especially once I have my ‘cheat reward day’ tomorrow) It won’t be more than 2 or 3lbs in a few days. Trust me when I say, I am very stoked with the results.
The total weight loss may have increased, had I not prepared for the challenge on my own prior to this. I started eating more veggies and fruit and started cutting back the snack bars.
I was about 180ish for a long while, but that was after losing about 30lbs the previous three years or so. Up and down on the scales. 225 a long time ago to a consistent 178-185 for the last 3 or so years. I was active, played rugby, flag football a couple times a week and was a 5 time a week gym guy. I actually did 2-a-days a couple times a week too… But, I guess my diet sucked- I didn’t eat much fast food, but I did eat allot of diet products and processed bars… and my gym workouts were crap too. At times, I would actually gain a couple pounds from a few bad days of eating..even with all the activity. I always figured it was OK since I was working out allot.
In May rugby was over for me, so I didn’t have any of that … and I didn’t do any 2 a days either, I just stepped up the training and followed the diet outline. A huge portion of weight loss is your diet! Not a fad, low carb, or liquid only diet, but a healthy diet consisting of real food. It took me a very long time to accept it, but the challenge helped me change.
To lose 14 pounds in 31 days, after years of cardio and being active was a great achievement for me.
The videos were awesome Vic put out, and I loved the motivational piece Lyndsey had.

So, what I used for motivation was

  • A) other peoples posts and Vics videos, the posts and videos somehow keep pushing you once you see others actually doing it too.
  • And B) I wrote allot about my workouts, I logged diets, but I wrote about workouts since I loved the training.
  • And last but not least, C) I watched 300, not to see their bodies, but to imagine the workouts they did and just the movie is INSANE. I watched 300 a few times and frequently read the Art of War rules. – But yeah…im kinda crazy like that.

I guess it’s not the normal motivational inspirational fitness type of thing.I know there is more people out there that feel the same way, but your everyday health club type gym tries to take away that ruggedness. High tech, glossy pictures, and gym endorsed supplements are what sell….but hardly ever work if you’re looking for results. We’re all lied to, it’s our decision as to whether we believe it or not.

For now, I am going to take a few days off of training, and just do some walking , maybe a couple easy bike rides, and just run around and play with the nephew. June 1, I will have a bad eating day with no training. I won’t completely collapse and give up all my hard work, but I am going to reward myself. I will hit it hard again, I already have a new goal in mind…but for now I’m just going to relax and probably watch a few movies. I have too many DVDs to catch up on.
Stay Tuned- as I am going to be posting some of the big habits I changed and what good ones I picked up. I am also going to examine some of the things I could have done better.  I will also post a few pictures from the journey and result.

Once again, Thanks and much appreciation to Vic for everything he did for the challenge and for making it possible! !! I advise you to sign up for his update email list.
